Adrian Dutchin is Guyana's most decorated soca monarch competitor, with ten Mashramani titles to his name, and the face of Guyanese soca in the diaspora. He first made his name in the duo X2 with Jumo Primo, recording the popular “Tik Tok” and “Crazy,” before the pair went solo when Dutchin moved to the United States. His patriotic anthem “I Am a Guyanese” and his groovy and power soca entries have made him a Mashramani staple, and he received a Guyana Cultural Association Folk Festival Award in Brooklyn in 2014. After years away from the competition, he returned to win the 2023 Soca Monarch crown by a single point with “Place Nice,” then announced it would be his last Soca Monarch, to make room for younger artists. His career links Guyana's carnival to the big Guyanese communities in New York, Toronto, and London.
