Claudette “CP” Peters, known as Antigua's Soca Diva and Queen of Soca, is the country's most decorated female soca artist. She sang in church from age nine and in the Anglican Cathedral Youth Choir, won the Miss Teenage Pageant in 1996, and worked her way through local bands before becoming lead vocalist of the Taxik Band. Her 2002 hit “Something's Got a Hold on Me” with Da Bhann made her a regional name, and in 2005 she became the first woman to win the Antigua Soca Monarch title, with “All I Know.” She went on to win multiple Jumpy and Groovy Party Monarch crowns, and was honoured by her country with the Order of the Most Princely Heritage (OH). With her trademark red-orange hair and commanding stage presence, she has carried Antiguan soca to audiences across the Caribbean and the diaspora for two decades.
