Mr Killa, born Hollice Mapp in Gouyave, Grenada, is the island's biggest soca export and the leading modern voice of jab jab music. He began performing at 10, won Grenada's first National Teen Talent Search at 15, and took his first National Soca Monarch title at 17 with “Thunder Rags” in 2004. His 2014 hit “Rolly Polly,” a celebration of plus-sized women, went viral across the region, and “Run Wid It” in 2019 had crowds everywhere grabbing and running with anything in sight, as the song instructed. His sound fuses soca with dancehall, EDM, afrobeats, and the traditional jab jab rhythms of his home parish. He has headlined stages in Europe, Latin America, and as far as China, carrying Grenada's carnival culture worldwide.
