Tallpree, born Wilt Cambridge in Vendome, St. George's, is the artist who gave Grenada its own niche in soca through jab jab music. He began in the late 1980s as a dancehall act under the name Mr. Evilus, opening for visiting Jamaican stars, before switching to soca in the late 1990s and taking the name Tallpree. His 1999 hit “Old Woman Alone” brought him regional recognition, and “Grave, Jail, Hospital” was Grenada's Road March in 2000, confirming him as a major Carnival artist. His songs are grounded in Grenadian street language and the jab jab spirit of resistance and release, yet travel easily to diaspora audiences. In 2011 he was named a Grenadian Cultural Ambassador, and he remains active on stages across the Caribbean and abroad.
